CRYOSKIN® BLOG
Let’s share our best practices, our tricks, our impressions, our results to make the community grow and make Cryoskin® the must-have device to meet your customers’ expectations.
When Clarins offered me to test its new slimming ally – cold – with the Cryoskin, I just asked if there were any particular contraindications. I just asked if there were any particular contraindications, because you don’t know what kind of sauce you’re going to be eaten with, and the little I knew about cryotherapy, it was very, very cold! And although I have origins « from the cold » (Eastern countries), I am a warm-blooded animal, I like heat, being warm and I am very cold!
A few words about the principle: exposure to cold causes a biological phenomenon called apoptosis, i.e. cell death. I asked the question: « Why do we only destroy fat cells during the treatment? « Because fat cells are very sensitive to cold. So there is no risk of burning the skin, especially since – don’t worry – you are not immersed in a large basin filled with ice cubes or locked in a fridge at -80°C (I have already tested this when I was doing research, the samples were stored in very large fridges in which you could not stay!) Anyway. Once this destruction has started, everything that is originally inflammatory and therefore stores fat disappears progressively, it is reactionary.
A session lasts about 30 minutes and you can target a particular area: thighs, stomachs, waist, arms, everything is possible. According to tests, during a session, 20 to 30% of fat cells are eliminated, so it takes a few sessions to have a convincing result (Clarins explains that 80% of the final result is obtained in 2 or 3 weeks).
However, be aware of certain contraindications to the treatment: progressive illness, Raynaud’s syndrome, current pregnancy, cryoglobulinemia and renal or hepatic insufficiency!
The course of my session: with the beautician, we assess where I want to erase my orange peel. « The thighs please! « . We specifically target the inner thighs where the skin is the most wrinkled and I settle down comfortably on the bed of the cabin, just like for a body treatment. Important detail: this technique is not intended to treat all the areas where cellulite is found, but to erase targeted areas, the areas « where it hurts » – if you have a real problem of overweight, no miracle using cryolipolysis, it will not make you melt instantly! We measure with a tape measure the circumference of the thigh (ahaha, you’d like to know, right? No, no, it’s top secret!)
The operator starts by applying a gel to better slide the « probe » that delivers the cold and then starts by applying heat! Yes, yes, you read correctly. It is the thermal shock that will amplify the cold phenomenon! The probe passes over my skin and heats it to around 40°C, which is rather pleasant… then the probe diffuses cold, the sensation is progressive, but the thermal shock is immediate, and it is this shock that will provoke the apoptosis of the adipocytes. Don’t panic, the cold applied does not go beyond -8°C, so it is bearable. Largely. Even for the hyper-frightened. After a few minutes of massage with the ice probe, I feel that it contracts underneath: a bit like when your fingers are numb from the cold (hand plunged in the ice…).
The skin is very very cold, the feeling is less strong, it is – I repeat – very bearable. And I am however very sensitive of the legs, the fault of my venous insufficiency. Obviously, my skin reacts a little, it reddens, but all returns in order when this one warms up. The massage stage lasts between 10 and 15 minutes, with a final manual phase to relax, then we move on to the other leg for the same procedure.
The session is finished, we measure again the circumference of thigh, in the same place, I have a mole which makes it possible to know exactly where we made the measurement before. Verdict: -1,5 cm! It is quite easy to understand: under the effect of the cold, the skin, the tissues have contracted, retracted, made themselves very small, we do not claim victory immediately, we must consolidate all that!
After the session: I get dressed, I don’t feel more comfortable in my jeans yet, but I can see that the skin is more « toned ». I hydrate +++, as usual (1.5 liters per day), to drain the tissues and help the adipocytes destroyed by this session to eliminate themselves. And to complete the treatment, I continue to eat well, do a little sport and take care of myself!
Last BIG detail of importance: the price! Yes, this is a technology that has a cost. 120€ per session (in apackage option). And it takes about 5 sessions. It’s a cost, for sure. Having once spent so much on Cellu M6 sessions at Nocibé, I must say that I am more interested in this type of treatment, because it has the advantage of taking up much less time: a 30-minute session every two weeks is feasible, even when you have a busy schedule. And anyway, we take time for ourselves! Na! So yes, it is expensive, but technology has a cost. And when you have cellulite, before going through surgery (and lipo-aspiration, yuck, that’s an operation too), there are gentler ways to remove it.
I’ll give you an update in a couple of weeks (I’ll update this article, because in a couple of weeks, I’ll normally have a first visual and measurable result… since the cell death phenomenon will normally have produced its effects on the cellulite layer at the treated area). I will continue afterwards, as I intend to say goodbye to my dimples!
EDIT: after 15 days, the lost centimeters are still lost, but I didn’t do other sessions to consolidate it! it would have been much better!
So, ready to declare death to your cellulite?
A few days ago, I was able to test an ultra effective slimming technique at the Mundoya Institute near Paris: cryotherapy! It doesn’t hurt and yet you lose centimeters where you want. And you can see the results from the first session.
Cryotherapy is a cold treatment technique that consists in lowering the skin temperature. The cold then helps to reduce the vessels. This technique is commonly used to reduce muscular pain and the size of hematomas for example.
We already know some uses of cold to treat certain problems:
Cold bombs are used by athletes to reduce pain
Nitrogen is used to burn warts Cryotherapy cabins
are also used by high level players to help them recover (cycling, soccer etc …)
Recently, cryotherapy has also been used as part of a slimming program . Some users spend some time in specially adapted chambers to help slim down.
I’m not talking about diving into cold baths or spending a few minutes in cryotherapy booths, but rather about very localized applications.
To benefit from this technique, the Mundoya beauty salon of which I am an ambassador uses a professional device, the Cryoskin® device.
Applied to the chosen area (between 15 and 20 cm), the beautician follow the following method:
The first step is to raise the temperature of the chosen area to 40°C.
The temperature of this same area will then be lowered sharply until it reaches negative levels.
The strong thermal variation of the area will then eliminate part of the adipocytes; the cells that store fat. Some of them will be eliminated during the session, and the rest will be gradually eliminated by natural means during the 15 days following the session.
A session lasts about 30/44 minutes per area. To allow the body to do its work of elimination, you must respect a period of 15 days between each session, even if you change the treated area.
This is the basic technique, but be careful, this technique is not to be taken lightly and must be practiced by serious professionals.
You will have understood that when we use this technique to lose weight, the system will do most of the work, but our body is called upon to evacuate toxins and fat cells.
If you have a disease that weakens one of these systems, you should avoid using cryotherapy, as it could do more harm than good.
Once again, our body is put to work during the 15 days following each session, so it is important to take it easy and to respect the 15 days between each session.
To have good results and to help your body eliminate fat cells, you must not eat sugar for two hours after each session. Sugar promotes the storage of fat, so it would eliminate all the work done during the session.
Drinking abundantly is also recommended, always to promote the elimination of toxins
To optimize the result even more, apply a slimming cream and adopt a healthy diet.
So here I am, off to try a cryotherapy session!
I already know that everyone at Mundoya is adorable! I arrived with confidence to test this new slimming technique. But beyond the kindness of each one, the welcome of the clients and the confidence building are essential for me.
If you followed me on Instagram the day of my trial, I was curious to discover cryotherapy but a little apprehensive all the same.
I was greeted by Marie who set me up in one of the cabins at the Mundoya center. We started by talking a bit to get to know cryotherapy; how it works, the expected effects as well as the course of the session.
Before starting, I also answered a questionnaire before the session. A series of questions to verify that I was not concerned by one of the possible contra-indications of which I spoke to you above.
Phew, I’m not concerned!
So I chose to test cryotherapy on what I call « my pregnancy bulge ». A real unsightly bulge located at the bottom of my belly and because of which I am often uncomfortable.
Comfortably installed and lying down, I was in the hands of Marie, who proceeded to take measurements to be able to see the results at the end of the session.
These results are variable from one person to another, each one being different, but generally one notices from 2 to 5 cm of loss on the chosen zone, per session.
Marie then applied the device to the chosen area and heated my skin to 40°C. I did not feel any pain, on the contrary. A soft sensation of heat was then diffused on my skin.
After this first application of heat and for about twenty minutes, Marie then lowered the temperature of the skin while massaging the area strongly. A sort of simultaneous palpation-roll to promote the bursting of fat cells.
My skin was then anesthetized by the cold, but very locally, without being painful. The palpe-roulé is not pleasant in itself, nor is it unpleasant, and once again, as my skin was half anaesthetized by the cold, it was absolutely not painful.
In addition, during the whole session I chatted with Marie, so my attention was focused on our conversation rather than on the manipulation in progress.
Marie had already told me that, but here I am reassured that cryotherapy is not a painful technique. And I was able to see that for myself.
After the session, Marie applied a slimming cream to perfect the result and then took measurements again.
Bingo! This first 20-minute session just made me lose 3 cm. The rest of the work will be done by my own body over the next 15 days.
Before going home, Marie gives me some additional advice with as much gentleness as during the session ( thank you Marie ).
I am both reassured and delighted by my cryotherapy session. I was very well taken care of at Mundoya. Marie’s warm welcome and professionalism were very helpful, thank you!
I didn’t feel pain once and the result was immediately measurable. Obviously, to have even better results, a course of several sessions is necessary; I am seriously thinking about it, given the significant results obtained from the first session.
If you are also tempted by cryotherapy, I can only recommend you to test Cryoskin Cryoslim treatment.
Cryolipolysis is a non-invasive procedure that consists in reducing the thickness of subcutaneous fat by intense cooling. Scientific studies have shown that cooling the subcutaneous tissue to a temperature below 10°C causes a cell death signal (apoptosis) in the adipocytes, without affecting the surrounding cells (skin, nerve, muscle).
This technique does not present any particular risk, provided that it is performed by a physician who knows the indications, contraindications, possible side effects and their treatment.
Since negative temperatures (down to -8°C) are necessary to obtain satisfactory results, it is essential that a doctor take care of you in order to avoid undesirable effects. This procedure, if it is well controlled, is not painful.
During your first appointment, Dr. Fidalgo will give you all the necessary explanations for your choice. He will know how to determine if your request represents a good indication for cryolipolysis and will know how to detect possible contraindications.
The session, which lasts from 30 to 44 minutes depending on the area, will be performed by a State Certified professional, specially trained and experienced in this Cryoskin® technology.
This dynamic Cryoskin® cryolipolysis method particularly indicated for the treatment of localized fatty deposits on the abdomen and love handles, but also on the hips, thighs, inside of the knees, legs, arms, back, double chin.
To have an optimal and long-lasting result, it is necessary to repeat the sessions 5 or 10 times, at 15 days interval.
The results to be expected are a 20 to 30% reduction in the thickness of the fatty panicle, provided that dietary rules are respected. Indeed, if 20% of the superficial layer of skin fat is destroyed and the remaining 80% continues to hypertrophy, under the effect of a rich diet, the apparent result will be null. However, 20% of the surface has been eliminated.
